This is the link to the news story for the fire:
There was a house fire in our neighborhood last Friday night it was the house kitty korner to our backyard. A 4-year-old boy start it playing with matches on his bedspread. His 9 year-old brother ran back in to save the 4-year-old. The news story above shares more & shows a video of the fire. This family just moved in 2 months ago, but they say that they have been very blessed and have had an amazing attitude with all that has happened.
On Monday they arranged a Family Home Evening for anyone who wanted to come (100's of people did!). They had the firefighters come with their fire trucks, and the firemen gave a tour through the house telling children how the escape a fire & what to do. How not to play with matches and then what can happen. We even got to see the room where it started! It was very interesting. I don't think our children will ever play with matches, after seeing the affects.
Thank You Morley's!!!!!

I'm glad that you took that opportunity Chelsi to teach those cute Gt. Grandkids of ours what a fire can do. Grandpa is doing better since they started his iron IV's. Bobby was down here last week. We had a good time visiting. Love, Grandma Brenner
what an awful thing for that family to have to go through, but what an awesome learning experience for so many families.
How scary!! I'm glad they were okay.
I saw the Coupon Mom today on the Today's Show and thought of you. You are just as thrifty and cuter. You should get your own show.
I love that they turned it into a learning experience.
I was astounded by the damage and it has effected me and my kids for the rest of our lives! I am so grateful for this wake up call!
That is a great way to get the word out on the importance of not playing with matches. I think it has a more "real" effect when kids can see first hand the effects of a fire.
Oh my gosh. What a cool thing for that family to do, though. It shows you how to be, right?
What a brave little 9 year old boy! It's so sad that it happened, but they are so lucky that no one was hurt. We did an FHE about a year ago about fire safety and had the kids practice what they would do if there was ever a fire. This story makes me think that it's time for a refresher course, and also an added lesson on not playing with matches. Thanks Chelsi!
